Technical Assistance for Implementation of Import and Export of Hazardous Chemicals Regulations

The overall objective of the project is to protect human health and environment from possible adverse effects of some chemicals by facilitating information exchange regarding their specifications and by establishing a national decision making process in relation to import and export of these chemicals.


Purpose of the project is to align with the Regulation (EU) No 649/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the export and import of hazardous chemicals and to improve the necessary capacity for effective implementation of that regulation.


In Turkey, within the framework of implementation of the said EU Regulation, a “Declaration System” will be established, the infrastructure will be strengthen for effective control of the forbidding/restricted chemicals at the customs and the public and stakeholders will be informed on the issue.


Within the context of the project, training courses, workshops, study visits will be organized and web-page and brochures will be prepared in order to inform the stakeholders and regulatory and sectoral impact assessments and draft legislation for the pre-notification of the export of dangerous chemicals will be prepared.


The Project that is envisaged to start in 2015 will last for 24 months and have a budget of 1 million Euro.
